George James Summers was born on 22 December 1833 [1] in Liverpool, Lancashire, England, [2] the son of Jonas Summers and Elizabeth Sanderson. [1] He was baptised at Mount Pleasant Methodist church on 2 February 1834 in Liverpool.[1]
When George was 28 he married Emma Crabtree on 17 July 1862 in Manchester, Lancashire. The couple had at least 11 children.[3]
In the 1871 census George was living in Ardwick, Manchester, Lancashire.[2]
In the 1881 census George was living in Moss Side, Lancashire.[4]
In the 1891 census George was living in Gorton, Lancashire.[5]
In the 1901 census George was living in Reddish, Lancashire.[6]
