On August 8 the Gawler Baptist Church was the scene of an interesting wedding when Miss Alice Ethel Summerton the youngest daughter of Mr. J. E. Summer- ton, of Queen street, "Woodbine," was married to Mr. Oswald H. Finch of Gawler, the youngest son of Mr. J. Finch, Queen-street. The Rev. T. Vigis officiated. The bride, who was given away by her father, looked pretty in a white crepe de- chine gown; the crossover bodice had trimmings of silk insertion and lace, with silk fringe to match. The trained skirt was adorned with orange blossom. She wore a tulle veil becomingly arranged over a wreath of orange blossom, and carried a beautiful bouquet of white stocks and maiden hair fern, tied with white streamers. The bridesmaids were Miss Maggie Moore. Miss Clarice Finch, and Miss Effie Summerton. The two first named wore cream cloth gowns, whilst Miss Summerton wore a cream silk dress. They carried large, sprays of pink and white flowers, with streamers of pink rib- bon to match. Their gifts from the bridegroom, were pearl gold brooches. Mr. A. Badman acted as best man and Mr. A. R. Summerton was the groomsman. After the ceremony the happy couple, with relatives and friends, adjourned to the lecture hall, where an appetising breakfast awaited them, and the usual toasts were honored. Miss Estille Summerton officiated at the organ. Mrs. Finch's travelling dress was designed of goblin blue cloth, with hat to match. Mr. and Mrs. Finch were the re- cipients of many useful and costly presents, including a beautiful clock and silver oak biscuit barrel, presented by members of the Sunday-school and church. [1][2]
