Biography

Hugh, born about 1848 in Canada West (Ontario), was recorded in the Canada Census, 1881, working as a miller in Artemesia Township, Ontario. He and his wife, Mary, had four children at that time: Ada, Goldie, John and William.^[1] They moved to Toronto, Ontario, where their son David was born in 1890. Hugh's occupation was "miller" on the birth certificate.^[2]
