Biography
Peter was born about 1771. He was the son of Peter Summy and Elizabeth Briles. Peter m. Dorcas Kindley 24 Oct 1794 in Rowan County. They lived in Rowan at the time of both the 1800 and 1810 Federal Census Records. There was a migration of many families from this area of NC to OH and IN beginning about 1800, and by 1820, Peter Summy and his family are in Wayne County, IN. By 1830 Montgomery County, IN has become their home. They and several married daughters are found there in Federal Census Records of 1840,1850 and 1860. Both Peter and Dorcas are living with their daughter Dorcas and her husband Wm. A. Brown in 1850, but Peter has passed away before 1860 when Docas alone is with them.
