Lydia was born October 27, 1846 in Kentucky. She was the daughter of Abner Sumner and Nancy Engler. In 1860 Lydia was living with her parents and siblings in Jefferson Township, Poweshiek, Iowa[1]. Then by 1870, Lydia and Daniel are in Fall River Township, Greenwood, Kansas with their two children Lillie and Allen[2]. She married Daniel H, Johnson January 6, 1900[3] However, they seemed to be married as far back as 1863 when their 1st daughter Lillie was born. So perhaps they had a common law marriage first or they just wanted to remarry in 1900. By that time the family was living in Grays Harbor, Washington[4].
Lydia died October 28, 1911 in Washington. A small obituary clipping on Lydia's Find A Grave page reads: Mrs. D.H. Johnson of Oakville, while trying to cross the Grays Harbor branch of the N. P. with Mr. and Mrs. W. J. Jeffries of Tacoma, was hit by a freight train and killed.[5]. She was 65 years old.
Notes
Researching Lydia's son Allen I found a hospital record for him on ancestry.com that said his mother had epilepsy[6].
