DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with Reuben by comparing test results with other carriers of his Y-chromosome or his mother's mitochondrial DNA.
However, there are no known yDNA or mtDNA test-takers in his direct paternal or maternal line.
It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with Reuben:
Sumner-719 and Sumner-204 appear to represent the same person because: Sumner -719 is mixed up, showing his father-in-law as his father. It seems clear that the info on Sumner -204 is more likely to be correct.
A child's birth date should not be before a parent is six years old.
A child's birth date should not be more than 110 years before their mother's death date. This would mean their mother lived to be well over 110.
A birth date should not be more than 60 years before or after a sibling's birth date.
I added Esther Puffer (1675-1748) as his wife, based on profiles for her parents showing they were in Massachusetts (she had been attached to Sumner-109, who was born/died in Maryland). Cheers, Liz
Hi Iris! I added Deacon Roger Sumner as William's father. The marriage date of May 26, 1698 for him & Mary Josselyn is actually his death date (according to the text/biography), so the marriage date was likely to have been intended to be "before May 26, 1698". You had Mary Josselyn as his mother. A Geni link cited on another Sumner profile shows this William as their son (see http://www.geni.com/people/William-Sumner/6000000002257908866 ). I'm descended from a different William Sumner, of Maryland, who apparently was mistakenly merged into the Massachusetts family at some point. I've set him as a rejected match with this William & will remove him as Roger & Mary's son next week (unless the other profile manager of Sumner-109 objects). Cheers, Liz
