Biography
John Sumner was born in Appalachia, in South Carolina.
When John Buckner Sumner was born on June 30, 1815, in Pickens, South Carolina, his father, Benjamin, was 25 and his mother, Mary, was 22. He had 17 sons and 20 daughters. He died on March 20, 1899, in Oakman, Alabama, having lived a long life of 83 years.
