Biography

Cyrus was born in 1772 the son of Johnathan and Submit Sumners. He married Mary Bell in 1803 in Roxbury, NJ. They moved to Canada and settled in Clinton, Ontario where they raised their ten children. Cyrus was a surgeon in the British Army in 1812 and was Assistant Surgeon to Major Sir Isaac Brock at Queenston Heights and also was commissioned Surgeon for the 4th Lincoln Regiment Militia in 1822. He passed away in 1832 and is buried with his wife in Grimsby Cemetery in Grimsby, Ontario.
