Aaron A. Sumner, 70

Aaron A, Sumner, 70, of Starke died Friday afternoon, May 6, in the Bradford County Hospital following a lengthy illness.

Born August 10, 1906, in Columbia County, Mr. Sumner had lived in Bradford County for 48 years. He was retired from the Florida State Road Department, had driven a taxicab for several years, and operated a fruit and vegetable stand. He was a member of the Smyrna Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Rosie M. Sumner, five daughters: Mrs. MIldred Thornton, Mrs. Carolyn Thornton, and Mrs. Barbara Gilpin, all of Starke; Mrs Evelyn Booth and Mrs Nancy Jakob, both of Booker; five sons: David and Clyde, both of Ft. Meade; three sisters, two half brothers, 26 grandchildren and five great grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Monday afternoon, May 9, in the Chapel of DeWitt C. Jones Funeral Home of Starke with Elder T.C. Williams officiating. Burial was in Macedonia Cemetery north of Macclenny.
