She was the daughter of Elizabeth Snow and her husband, Daniel Sumner III. The family lived in Worcester County, Massachusetts, but moved to Windham County, Vermont, around 1800, making it difficult to ascertain which state saw Sophia's birth.
Sophia Sumner married Ebor (Ebenezer) Stacy in 1821 in Wilmington, Windham County, Vermont. They had a daughter: [1]
