Mary was born in 1831, the daughter of Thomas Hunt Sumner and Margaret Springer United Empire Loyalists that arrived in Canada at the Episcopal Church. She was first married George Young, and they had two sons, George who died in 1854, and Daniel who was born in 1855. After Georges death she married Thomas Mark and they had eight children. Elizabeth Mae - 1860-1947, John Henry - 1864-1989, Thoms Edward - 1866-1953, Robert - 1868-1871, Lordvy Margaret - 1869-1966, Sara Melisa - 1873-1860. William Arthur - 1875-1958, & May Lucinda - 1877-1968.
