In 1690 a force of men were gathered from Dorchester, Massachusetts, to invade Canada during what is often called King William's War. This ill-fated expedition suffered many deaths, from disease, lack of provisions, the weather and the fighting. He was Ensign of Captain Withington's company and was lost along with his brother and four Sumner cousins.
