February 5, 2010 Brantley Sumrall Brantley Jerrell "Jerry" Sumrall, 64, of Chattanooga, died on Wednesday, February 3, 2010. Jerry was born in Jackson, Ms, to B. W. and Annie Pearl Sumrall. Jerry enlisted in the United States Navy in 1963 and served in Vietnam. He graduated from Tennessee Temple University in 1980, then taught at several of the Christian schools in the Chattanooga area. Jerry was a member of Lifegate Baptist Church and was an Assistant pastor there for several years until his health declined. Mr. Sumrall is survived by his wife of 36 years, Elaine Sumrall; one son, David Sumrall; and granddaughter, Kaleigh Sumrall. He is also survived by two sisters, Pat Dorton of Phenix City, Al, and Sherry Cooley of Opelika, Al.; aunt, Jenny Duke, and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held on Monday, Feb. 8, at 10 a.m. at the North Chapel with Pastor James Dunn and Joe Nelms officiating. Burial will be on Tuesday, Feb. 9, at Chattanooga National Cemetery at 11:30 a.m. with military honors. The family will receive friends on Saturday, Feb. 6, from 4-8 p.m, and Sunday, Feb. 7, from 12-6 p.m. at the funeral home.
