"WILLIAM H. SUPPE, merchant, was born in Germany, June 17, 1851. Came to the United States with his parents when about three years old, and after a residence of two years in New York and seven years in Milwaukee, Wis., they removed to Randolph County, Mo. Wm. H. resided there until he came to Kansas, in the fall of 1879. He had been in business in Moberly, Mo., three years before coming to this State. Locating in Emporia, he established the "New York 99 cent Variety Store" on Commercial street. Carries a $20,000 stock of jewelry, silver and plated ware, musical merchandise, fancy goods, etc. Is a member of Emporia Encampment No. 17, I. O. O. F., and a member of Emporia Lodge No. 2, A. O. U. W. He married Miss Julia White, of New Frankfort, Mo., December 7, 1876, by which marriage he has three children - William F., Charles H. and Nellie."
William H. Suppe's family moved to Van Nuys, Los Angeles Co., California, about 1916. His last California voter registration record was dated as 1932. In 1934, his wife was listed alone on the voter registration. California death index shows his date of death as 23 Nov 1932.
LAST RITES FOR WILLIAM SUPPE
Funeral services were conducted in the Little Church of the Flowers at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Glendale, last Saturday for William H. Suppe, retired merchant of Los Angeles, who died last Wednesday at his home, 5434 Ethel Avenue, Van Nuys. Interment followed in the Vesperland section of Forest Lawn.
Born 81 years ago in Germany, Mr. Suppe had been a resident of Van Nuys since 1914. He leaves his wife, Mrs. Julia L. Suppe, one daughter, Mrs. Emma N. Brown, and three sons, William F. Suppe, Charles H. Suppe and Edward H. Suppe.
