Biography

Jacob R Surber was born Dec 12, 1850. He was the fourth child of James Surber and Louisa Robinson. He spent his life in the Washington County, Virginia area.

On Apr 21, 1869 Jacob married Sarah Isabella Wysong in Sullivan County, Tennessee. Nine known children were born to this union: Emily, Virginia F., Andrew James, Martin Lewis, Mary Ellen, George Washington, Regina Avery, Thomas, and Sarah Linnie.

Census information indicates that he was a laborer.

He passed away on Aug 7, 1896 in Washington County, Virgina from typhoid fever. He was 45 years and 8 months old. He is buried in Old Glade Spring Baptist Church Cemetery in Glade Spring, Washington County, Virginia. His grave is marked with a handmade stone.
