Georgia Surber was born on October 12, 1887 in Oakland, Pottawattamie County, Iowa, daughter of John William Surber and Harriett Rilla Phillips.
Georgie, as she was called by the family, lived with her parents in Rawles, Mills County, Iowa for many years. She married Charles Coleman on February 7, 1906 in Pottawattamie County, Iowa. They had two children, Gerald Irvin and Glendora June. The family lived in Washington, Pottawattamie County, Iowa in 1910. Shortly after this time, the marriage dissolved.
Georgie remarried Fernando Frank Farrington on August 30, 1919 in Avoca, Pottawattamie County, Iowa. This was a second marriage for both. In 1920 they are found living in Anderson, Mills County, Iowa with three of Frank's children from his first marriage. Georgie and Frank had one child, Orville Melvin Farrington. Frank, who was much older than Georgie, died in 1928.
In 1930 Georgie is living in the household of the elderly William M. Hotze as a servant. By 1940 she had moved back to live with her mother, Hattie Phillips Surber Ayers.
Georgie died on December 28, 1956. She is buried in the Oaklawn Cemetery, Oakland, Pottawattamie County.
