Biography

Berthélemy was born in 1681. He was baptized on 21 September 1681 in Mauzé, (in ancient province of Poitou, present-day département of les Deux-Sèvres), France. He is the son of Noel Surette and Francoise Collard. His godparents were Barthélemy Prénereau, the sacristan, and Françoise ———. ^[1][2][3]

On 21 January 1709 in La Laigne, (in ancient province of Aunis, present-day département of Charente-Maritime) he married Catherine Indreaud, daughter of Jacques Indreaud and Françoise David. Were present: Françoise Couillaud his mother, Mathurin Suire his brother, Louis Robinet and Nicolas Barboteau brothers-in-law, Jacques Indreaud father, Françoise David mother, Louis Indreaud cousin. Pierre Taillefert and B Suiret signed.^{[4][2] [3]}

He was a miller. ^{[2] [3]}

He passed away on 26 October 1744 at the age of 63. He was buried the next day in La Laigne.^{[5] [2] [3]}

Note: the last name of the family of Barthélemy Surette in France was spelled different ways: Suiret, Suret, Suire, Le Suyre. ^[2]
