Biography
Walter was born about 1210 in Dinsdale, Durham, England. According to Burke's Landed Gentry he was the son of Richard Surtees of Dinsdale. However, in Records of the Family of Surtees he was the son, not the father of Walter, and the father of Nicholas.[1]
