Biography

William Sutherland is a member of Clan Sutherland.

William was born about 1749. He is the son of Adam Sutherland and Helen Sutherland.

When his wife died in 1795, William was left a widower with 7 children. By process of elimination, Brevet Major Edward Sutherland must have been one of his children because he is referred to as "cousin" or "second cousin" in the wills of other members of the Sciberscross family.

At the time of his death in 1813, William was said to be in his 65th year and is therefore likely to have been born in 1748 or 1749 as he would have ben aged 64 at the time of his death.
