By Samuel Milton Sutliff, Jr. Esq. 1909 The Kelmscott Press Downers Grove, Illinois This book is in the possession of Joan Kelley Elmer and on page 55 it states that Lucy Abaline Sutliff moved early in her life with her father to Columbus, Pennsylvania. Went to school at Alfred Academy at Hornellsville, New York, after having taught school from the age of fifteen years; then moved to Hustisford, Wisconsin to live with her sister and to teach; married Fayette Mace Spear on 17 Oct 1855. Fayette was born in New Portland, Maine on February 22, 1828, and became a tin and hardware merchant, finally moving on his farm in Oconomowoc, Waukesha, Wisconsin; where Lucy died July 18, 1899. The Spears family came from Isle of Jersey, England; thence Brunswick, Maine, thence west. It also lists eight children.
