Footnotes

  1. 2 different dates have been seen for the death of Jasper Sutton: 1762 in Georgia and 1781 in South Carolina.
  2. Her name is spelled in many different ways, but I've always seen it as the same as her father Runyon.
  3. (1731-?) on 22 September 1764 in Amwell, Hunterdon, New Jersey in the Seventh Day Baptist Church.
  4. Sutton, EF says maybe child of second wife; however if dates of husband and children are considered, it looks more like the 1745 date which would be the first wife.
  5. 1810 Census for Powell Huff says 1 male 45+ and 1 female 45+ and some think this means they were born about 1765, but 45+ doesn't mean that, she could also be 65 and it wouldn't show. The 1820 census for her says the same 45+ age. She has a child, Amos in 1775; so she wouldn't have been 10 at his birth.

DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with Jonas by comparing test results with other carriers of his Y-chromosome or his mother's mitochondrial DNA. However, there are no known yDNA or mtDNA test-takers in his direct paternal or maternal line. It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with Jonas:

I think there may be a generation missing between Jonas and Amos. It gets confusing with all of the inter marriages and same names.

I have Nathan Sutton (1767-1836) and Elizabeth Julia Robbins (1769-?) as the parents of Amos and Jonas Sutton and Elizabeth Runyon as the parents of Nathan Sutton. See Rowland reference cited in sources (it took me a lot of mapping to figure out who was who).
