Levi Sutton was born on July 25, 1789, in Fayette City, Pennsylvania, the son of Moses Sutton and Susannah Cox. He married Catharine Crist on March 24, 1814. They had elevin children. He died on October 5, 1852, in Lyme, Huron, Ohio, at the age of 63, and was buried in Huron County, Ohio, in Hunts Corner Cemetery.
About 1836 Levi Sutton and three of his sons (William, Phillip and Elisha) were convicted of counterfeiting. They were jailed in Ohio. In 1839, they appealed to the Ohio Supreme Court, however their appeal was denied.
Levi Sutton and Levi R(eed) Sutton are often confused. Levi R. Sutton is the son of Issac Sutton (brother of Levi Sutton) and Pamela Reed. Levi R Sutton was born in Georges, Fayette County, Pennsylvania on 7 Sept., 1794 and died on 3 Sept., 1872 in Monroeville, Ridgefield Twp, Huron County, Ohio. He is buried in Peru Center Cemetery in Peru Twp, Huron County, Ohio. He married Katherine Kyle in Nov. 28, 1813 • Mount Vernon, Knox County, Ohio, USA
