Biography

Pieter Dircksz Swagerman was baptised on 8 February 1705. His parents were Dirck Swagerman and Geert Pieters. He had a brother by the same name who had been born in 1699.

Pieter married Alijd Nannes on 20 January 1732. Alijd's parents were Cornelis Nansz and Aaf Pieters and she had been baptised in Andijk on 29 June 1704.

In the baptism records of the Reformed churches of Andijk and Wervershoof the following children can be found: Dirk baptised on 11 May 1732, Willem baptised on 22 November 1733, Geertje baptised on 20 November 1735, Pieter baptised on 20 September 1739, Marij baptised on 21 January 1742, and Trijntje baptised on 8 November 1750. All of the above children were baptised in Andijk, except for Trijntje who was baptised in Wervershoof.

However, a notarial record drawn up on 15 November 1783 (after Pieter's death) mentions the following children: Willem Pietersz Zwagerman (living in Andijk), Grietje Pieters Zwagerman (living in Hem), Pieter Pieters Zwagerman (living in Andijk), Teunis Pieters Zwagerman (living in Andijk), Geertje Pieters Zwagerman (living under Hoogwoud, married to Kornelis Willems Kooi), Trijn Pieters Zwagerman (living in Westeinde/onder Enkhuizen, married to Laurens Gerbrands Semein).

On 8 February 1733 Pieter Swagerman and Alijd Nannes made their profession of faith. The area of Andijk where they lived at the time was Op Het Buurtje.

On 2 May 1760 Pieter Swagerman and Alijd Nannes were members of the reformed church and they lived in the western part of Andijk. Pieter's brother Pieter and his wife Grietje Ariaans were members of the same church and they live in the eastern part of Andijk.

Pieter died in 1782. On 30 November 1782 Dirk Willemsz Swagerman paid the impost on burial related to his death, and on 4 December 1782 he was buried in Andijk, in grave number 25.

Pieter's wife Alijd died in 1787. On 2 August 1787 her son Pieter paid the impost for burial, and on 4 August 1787 she was buried with her husband in grave number 25.
