Biography
At the time of her death, she was the oldest resident of the community in which she lived. The Swails family moved to Webster, Iowa when May was two years old and she spent nearly all her life there. Her husband operated a grocery in Webster for many years. She was a member of the Methodist Church, a charter member of the Ladies’ Aid Society, a life member of the local Womens’ Society of Christian Service, and active member of the Womens’ Christian Temperance Union and a member of Aspasia Chapter, Order of the Eastern Star in Sigourney, Iowa. Another note says George operated a barber shop in Webster for many years. [1]
