Elisha Swain Jr. is part of a Bahamian family.

Biography

Elisha Swain was born about 1791 in the Bahama Islands to Captain Elisha Swain and Sarah Nottage Swain.

He married twice: first, in 1814, to Mrs. Catherine Kemp; and second, in 1824, to Sarah Ingraham. Elisha and Catherine Swain had children - among them Dinah, Margaret, Sarah, and Charles Swain. Elisha and Sarah Swain had children Charles Joseph and Melinda Ann Swain.

Elisha, shopkeeper, registered 4 slaves in Andros and New Providence in 1822. In 1836, he received compensation of £291 19S 4D for 17 enslaved laborers.
