Biography

Howard Townsend Swain Sr. was born on 16 May 1868 [1]in Bath-on-Hudson, New York. He was the son of William Dexter Swain and Millicent (Niver) Swain.[2]

In the 1870 census Howard (age 2) was in his parent's home in Copake, Columbia, New York. Note: Post Office: Hollowville.[2]

On 1 June 1875 Howard (age 7) was living in Copake, Columbia, New York. Note: Relation to Head of House: Son.[3]

In the 1880 census Howard (age 12) was living in Copake, Columbia, New York. Note: Marital status: Single. Relation to Head of House: Son.[4]

In the 1900 census Howard (age 32) now a Physician, was living in his parent's home in Copake, Columbia, New York. Note: Marital Status: Single. Relation to Head of House: Son.[5]

When Howard was 35 he married Harriet French on 7 October 1903 in Exeter, New Hampshire.[6][7]

In the 1910 census Howard, Occupation Physician, (age 41) and Harriet (age 41) were living in Boston Ward 11, Suffolk, Massachusetts, with children, Helen-5, Margaret-3, and the baby Howard. Note: Marital Status: Married. Relation to Head of House: Head.[8]

In the 1920 census Howard (age 51) and Harriet (age 51) were living in Boston Ward 8, Suffolk, Massachusetts. Note: Marital Status: Married. Relation to Head of House: Head.[9]

In the 1930 census Howard (age 61) and Harriet (age 61) were living in Boston, Suffolk, Massachusetts with Helen-25, Margaret-23, and Howard-20 in the home. Note: Marital Status: Married. Relation to Head of House: Head.[10]

Howard died at the age of 68 on 6 December 1936 in Boston, Massachusetts. Note: 8:45 a.m.[11][12][7]

Howard was buried on 9 December 1936 in Exeter Cemetery, in Exeter, New Hampshire.[1] Note: J.S. Waterman & Sons funeral director.
