Jane was born in 1836 on Tristan da Cunha. She was baptised 21 Oct 1848 aged 12 years by John Wise, a visiting Chaplain from Ceylon.
20 May 1855 - John Glass married minor Jane Swain on Tristan da Cunha. The ceremony was performed by Reverend William F Taylor, Island Chaplain.
Jane appeared on the 1860 United States Federal Census in New London Connecticutt, with husband John Glass and daughter Harriet. Between 1860 and 1870, Jane and John separated, each taking a new partner. On the 1870 United States Federal Census, Jane appears in New London, Connecticutt, living with Daniel B. Loomis with whom she had an additional two children.
She passed away 3 Jun 1921 while living with her daughter, Minnie Edwards and her family.
