When Catharine Swain was born in September 1855 in Corning, New York, her father, John, was 26, and her mother, Margaret, was 31. She had two sons and a daughter with John P. Carr . She died on February 16, 1929, in Ovid, New York, at the age of 73, and was buried in South Corning, New York.
