Biography

Born Jane was born in 1847 ^[1] and baptised on 12 December 1847 in North Wingfield ^{[2] [3]}. She was the daughter of Joseph Swain and Ann Redford.
In 1851 ^[4] Jane (3) was living with her parents Joseph (36) "Agr. Lab." and Ann (39) in Pilsley with siblings William (9), Elizabeth (8), John (6) and Martha (4) .
In 1861 ^[5] Jane (13) was living with her parents Joseph (46) "Ag. Lab." and Ann (49) in Pilsley together with siblings William (19) "Agr Lab.", John (16) "Coal Lab. " and Ann (8) "scholar".

Marriage Jane married William Hopkinson in 1868 ^[6].
