Born Hannah was born in 1830 and baptised on 21 March 1830 [1]. She was the daughter of William Swain and Hannah Vardy.
Her mother died in 1836 [2]. Her father married Eleanor White a year later [3].
In 1841[4] Hannah (10) was living in South Normanton with her father William (35) "ag lab", step-mother Eleanor (25) and siblings Ann (8) and Martha (1).
Marriage Hannah married Herbert Gent on 4 November 1850 in Selston, Nottingham [5][6].
Hannah and Herbert had five children:
In 1851[12] Hannah Gent (21), her husband Herbert (24) "framework knitter" and their baby daughter Mary Gent (3 months) were living with Hannah's parents William (47) "ag lab" and Eleanor (37) in South Normanton. Also in the household were her siblings Martha (11), Jane (8), Henry (6) and Eleanor (3) as well as the daughter of her sister Elizabeth's, Mary Swain (3).
In 1861[13] Hannah (31) and Herbert (34) "colliery lab." were living in South Normanton together with their children Eliza (10), George (8), Sarah (6), William (4) and Mary (2).
Died Hannah died age 32 [14]
and was buried on 10 December 1862 in South Normanton [15].
