Joseph was born in 1820. He was brought to London with his family and apprenticed to become a print maker. He set up his own business and his clients included Punch magazine. The Dictionary of National Biography gives him 3 daughters. The third is not easy to identify from two possibles with Cooper as mother's maiden name. He passed away in 1909.
