Ernie Swainson is an Anzac who served in World War One.
Biography
Ernest was the son of Samuel Swainson and Emily Freeman.
He worked as a Dairy Farmer in the Hawkes Bay area and was a member of the East Coast Mounted Rifles.
He enlisted WWI, March 1917 - serial no 51197 with the NZEF 26th Reinforcements, F Company. Ernest embarked June 9 1917 to Devonport, England on the troop ship Willochra. He was wounded in 1918 and his active service ceased in 1919 arriving back in New Zealand, July 2 1919.
Ernest married after the war to Georgina Mary Powell with 3 children being born during their marriage.
Ernest 'Ernie' Swainson died age 60 and is buried at Opoutama cemetery, Wairoa, Hawkes Bay
