Biography

Christiana Swales was born in 1902 at home in 38 Edward Street, West Hartlepool, the daughter of Thomas Swales and Janet (Baxter) Swales. Her father was a labourer. She was baptised 20th March 1902 at St Paul's Church, West Hartlepool. She was their third child, and first daughter, and more children were born later.

Christiana married James McWilliams in 1923 in Stockton. They lived in Stillington for a long time, before moving to Scunthorpe in Lincolnshire. James died in 1972 in Scunthorpe, and Christiana died there in 1987.
