Biography

Louisa Swallwell's birth was registered in the March quarter of 1891 in the Sculcoates Registration district. Her mother's maiden name was Abram ^[1].

In 1891 Louisa was four months old and living with her parents Robert (34m a butcher and cattle dealer), and Annie Elisa (31) and her siblings Florence (5), Edgar (4), and Robert (2) at St Leonard [arsenal?], Hessle Road, Kingston upon Hull. Louisa was born in Hull, all the other family members were born in Scarborough, Yorkshire ^[2].

In 1901 Louisa (11, born Hull) was living with her parents Robert (44, a General labourer) and Annie E (40, a dressmaker) and her siblings Florence (15, a Domestic servant born Burniston), Edgar (14, a brickyard labourer), Robert (12, a news vendor), Wilfred (8, born Burniston), Harold (4) and Francis (1) at 91, Hampton Road, Scarborough. All the other family members were born Scarborough ^[3].

Louis (sic) Swalwell married James D. MacDougall in Scarborough, England, United Kingdom on 8th Dececember 1910 ^[4][5].

In 1911 Louisa (20, born Scarborough) and James (24, a soldier - a private in the Hussars, born Islay, Argyleshire) were living at 1 Barkers Yard Hope St Scarborough Yorkshire ^[6].

The birth of their daughter Midred was registered in the Scarborough Registration District in the September quarter of 1914 ^[7]..

The birth of their daughter Marion was registered in the Scarborough Registration District in the March quarter of 1916 ^[8].

The birth of their son, Alexander, was registered in the Skirlaugh Registration District in the December quarter of 1917. This Registration District, mostly in the East Riding, includes the parishes immediately to the South of Scarborough including Seamer ^[9].

Research note

The birth of their son, James D, was registered in the Shard Registration District in the June quarter of 1923. The Shardlow Registration district includes parts of Nottinghamshire, Leicestershire, and Derbyshire ^[10].
