Capt. William Swan served during the French and Indian War.
"Swan, William was the son of John Swan, one of the pioneers of the town. Birth about 1721 and was married when he enlisted. His first service was in Nova Scotia. Enlisted May 31, 1754 in Capt. William Pierce's Co., of Col. Winslow's Regiment. From 14 Oct to 16 Oct he was in the hospital at Albany, New York. After his death his widow married again to Moses Adams and returned to Dublin where they had nine children".
When William was 25 he married Mary Russell on 26 February 1750 in Lunenburg, Massachusetts. The couple had one child: Elizabeth Swan.[1]
William served in the Franch and Indian War, enlisting first in Nova Scotia in 1754 for four and a half months, and again March 27th 1759 with Captain Aaron Willard's company. He ended up in the hospital in Albany after this from October 14th, 1759 to October 16th, 1759, thereafter he disappears from the record. [2] Assumed to have died from his wounds, as his wife re-married shortly after.
