Biography

Loveday Donnithorne Swan was born in 1806 at Perranzabuloe, Cornwall, England. She was baptised on 16 Sep 1806 at St Columb Major, Cornwall. She was the daughter of William Swan and Ann Donnithorne.^[1]

John Martin Pascoe and Loveday Donnithorne Swan married on 3 Feb 1835 at Perranzabuloe, Cornwall.^[2] They had one child, William Pascoe (b. 1835).

John deserted Loveday and emigrated to America. Loveday returned to live with her mother Ann and brothers James Swan and Joseph Donnithorne Swan at her family farm "Trevithick" at Perranzabuloe. Her mother died in 1839 and her estate was divided equally between Loveday and her two brothers.^[3]

In the 1841 census, Lovedy Pascoe was age 30 living at Trewinton, Perranzabuloe, Cornwall.^[4]

In the 1851 census, Lovedy Pascoe was age 48 living at Rose, Perranzabuloe, Cornwall in the household of John Pascoe [no relation].^[5]

Loveday died in 1851 age 46 at Perranzabuloe. She was buried on 25 Nov 1851 at Newlyn East, Cornwall.^[6][7]

After Loveday died her son William successfully sued her brother Joseph Donnithorne Swan because William was entitled to his mother's third share of the farm but Joseph had taken sole possession, denied William's entitlement and refused to pay any rent.^[3]
