Biography

Brian Philip Swan was born at Rumford, Maine in 1951, the son of Richard Swan and Janice Dolloff. He grew up in Dixfield, Maine where his family lived on the Canton Point Road. He graduated from Dirigo High School, Dixfield.

He married Carol Anderson.

He passed away at Portland, Maine in 2008.

Obituary

Brian Philip Swan, age 57, died quietly in his sleep at Maine Medical Center after a brief illness with lung cancer.

He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Carol Anderson Swan, their son Tim and his wife Shellene and children Kaila and Tyler of Dayton, ME, their son Sam and his wife Laurie and their son Camden of Dayton, ME, their son Mark of Colorado Springs, CO, his parents Richard and Janice Swan, two brothers, Dennis and David Swan, both from Dixfield, ME, and many nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his grandparents.

Brian graduated from Dirigo High School in 1969 and received a diploma in drafting from CMVTI in 1971. In 1971 he joined the Air Force and spent his 20- year career affiliated with AFTAC and retired as a Master Sergeant. During that time, he was stationed at Shymia, Alaska, Patrick AFB, FL, Keflavik Naval Air Station in Iceland, and Falcon AFB in Colorado.

Upon retiring in 1991 he returned to school at Colorado Tech and received a Bachelors Degree in logistics. He worked at SAIC in Colorado Springs as a systems analyst and was head of the IT department until his retirement in 2005.

At that time Brian and Carol moved back to Maine and built their retirement home in Dayton. His interests were fishing, hunting, woodworking, painting watercolors, carving fish, singing karaoke, and just being there to help out anyone who needed it. He will be sadly missed by all of his friends and family.

Visiting hours will be on Wednesday evening from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. at the Dennett, Craig & Pate Funeral Home, located on the corners of Rts. 202 and 4A (13 Portland Road) in Buxton (Bar Mills).

A funeral service will be held on Thursday afternoon at the funeral home at 2:00 p.m. www.dcpate.com
