Biography

Jabez Swan was born 21 May 1751 in Stonington, Connecticut. He was the fourth child of Marvin (Holmes) Swan (1717-aft.1774) and Asa Swan (1712-abt.1773).

Jabez Swan married Mehitable (Wheeler) Swan (1754-1797) 17 June 1772 at Stonington.

Jabez Swan passed away in East Haddam, Connecticut, 9 Apr 1824. His grave is in Millington Cemetery, East Haddam, Middlesex County, Connecticut, USA ^[2], which in the header panel incorrectly represents his given name as Jabish. Unfortunately the depicted grave stele is so severely eroded that nothing is legible on its front face. The reverse face is inscribed only as J. S.
