Notes

Note NI1444The Descendants of John and Rosannah Swaney compiled by George E. Beckett.
This family history was prepared for the Swaney Family Reunion of 1982.
Nancy Ann Swaney was born in Titusville, Pennsylvania on March 5, 1837. She was baptized by Rev. Mr. Duke, her sponsors of record being Morgan Swaney and Mary A. Tinny. Very little is known of Nancy, perhaps because she died so young. On the 22nd of May, 1860 she married George Canfield at Old Mission.
George and Nancy settled down in a log cabin on Silver Lake and Nancy is known to have taught school at one time. Both died relatively young. While attending the funeral of her daughter, Mary, Nancy caught cold which progressed into pneumonia. While still ill she caught the measles which contributed to her death on the 14th of January, 1883, just 11 days after her daughter's. She was just 45 years old. George died four years later at 56 years of age on July 9, 1887. They had given life to eight children.
