When John Victor Swanson Sr. was born on 23 Feb 1891 in Manistee, Michigan, his father, Johan, was 28 and his mother, J. Matilda, was 23. His parents were Johan / John Alfred Swanson who married Matilda in October of 1889, the same year she arrived from Sweden. His father emigrated from Sweden in 1882 and settled in Manistee, Michigan. He was a dairy farmer. They established the Swanson Dairy. Their home was on Eighth street.
J. Victor married Nettie Cecilia Ekholm Swanson on May 19, 1917, in Detroit, Michigan. They had three children during their marriage. He died on March 30, 1961, in his hometown at the age of 71, and was buried there. [14]
