Biography

He is the son of Martin Swanson.

"The Brainerd Daily Dispatch" - January 24, 1910

"A week ago last Friday the Boy's Debating club met in solemn conclave to discuss matters of vital interest to the organization. In order that the boys might have a better supply of oxygen for their oratorical attempts, the august body discussed the question of holding their meetings in the evening. To make things more interesting there will be a debate every two weeks with parliamentary practice and a mock trial thrown in occasionally. The subject for debate for the third week n March will be, "Resolved, that the United States Should Increase Its Navy." Evert Swanson, Geo. Mahood and Lloyd Smith will support the affirmative, while John Senti, John Brady and James Alderman the negative."[1]

"The Brainerd Daily Dispatch" - March 7, 1910

"The Brainerd high school debating club will hold its first public debate on Thursday evening, March 10th. The subject will be, "Resolved that the sale of intoxicating liquors should be abolished by law under the following conditions:
1. -- That such a law be enacted at the present time.
2. -- That it can be used as a medicine only."
The affirmative will be upheld by Roland Barron, Thomas McMeekin and Burton Ford, while the negative will be upheld by Rudolph Nelstead, Evert Swanson and John Senti."[2]

"The Pequot Herald says: -- Evert Swanson, a senior in the Brainerd high school, was in Pequot over Sunday on a fishing trip. he reported to our constable that a couple of husky Norwegian girls held him up and stole his fishing tackle. Hard luck Evert."[3]
