Biography
Thomas was born in 1898. He is the son of William Swanston and Anne Aiken.
In 1929 Thomas left Ireland and first arrived in Canada and lived in Windsor, Ontario. Thomas crossed to the United States arriving at the Port of Detroit on November 7 1929 with the intention of settling in Michigan.
He married Eunice Jean Harwood in 1934 at Tecumseh and they had 3 known children, Karen, Sylvia and John William.
Thomas was first employed as a Herdsman for Turnis Farms and later worked at Quaker Oats.
Eunice predeceased him and passed away in 1972.
Thomas died in 1983 aged 85 at the Hillsdale Community Centre and was buried at Brookside Cemetery, Tecumseh, Michigan.
