Elizabeth Margaretha Christina was born in 1823 in Somerset, Cape Colony. She was the daughter of Nicolaas Johannes Swart and Cornelia Susanna de la Rey. She was married to Hendrik Mentz. Their children are listed on her death notice as: 1. Nicolaas Johannes Mentz 2. David Joachim Mentz 3. Hester Jacoba Petronella Mentz 4. Johannes Hendrik Mentz 5. Jan Cornelis Mentz 6. Pieter Christiaan Mentz.
She passed away in 1861 on the farm Driekop, in the Caledonriver district.
