James Armstrong Swarthout was born 3 September 1787 in Goshen, New York. He married Elizabeth Ketcham in 1808 in Romulus, New York. After she died, he married Anne Russell in July 1832 in Yates County, New York. He died 4 December 1871 in Barrington, New York.
