Biography

Frederick was born in 1885. He was the son of Robert Swayze and Elma Annette Nunn. Fred Swayze was born in York, Washtenaw, Michigan, on 7 Jun 1885. [1]

Fred is a candy maker, 254 Clement Street, San Francisco, when he registered for the WWI draft. He and Gertrude are married and live at 154 4th Avenue, San Francisco.

Fred lives at 433 Corbett Avenue, San Francisco and is working on the WPA on his WWII draft card.

The 1900 U.S. Census lists Robt Swayze, 40, married 17 years, Canada (French), parents from French Canada, Liveryman; Alma N Swayze, 39, Canada (English), parents Eng. Canada; Frederick Swayze, 14, Michigan; Grace Swayze, 13, Michigan; and Devere Swayze, 4, Canada; living in Montesano, Chehalis, Washington.

The 1910 census lists Robert Swayze, 52, married 26 years, Canada (Englsih), proprietor, ice cream plant; Elina N Swayze, 49; Fred E Swayze, 24, proprietor, ice cream plant; and Devere Swayze, 14 ; living in Sacramento Ward 6, Sacramento, California.

The 1920 census lists Fred E Swayze, 34, Michigan, candy store; Gertrude Swayze, 36, turner; Robert E Swayze, ?, widowed, immigration year 1879, maturalized 1884; candy store; Mildred Huntley, 36, lodger, divorced, Missouri; and Elvira George, 12, lodger, California; living in San Francisco Assembly District 28, San Francisco, California.

The 1930 census lists Fred E Swayze, 45, owns home, Michigan, Teamster, Ice Cream Co.; Gertrude Swayze, 48; and father Robert Swayze, 72 ; at 433 Corbett Avenue, San Francisco, California.

Fred and Gertrude are still at 433 Corbett in San Francisco in the 1940 U.S. Census. He is 54, a laborer at a playground.
