Biography

A Lydia Sweet was born on 28 Nov., 1770 in East Greenwich, Kent, Rhode Island, British Colonial America^[1]. A Lydia Sweet was married to a Benjamin Harrington in on 23 April, 1795 in Foster, Providence^[2][3].

However, Lydia Harrington, married name, most likely born in 1784, Rhode Island. All of the census that state birthplace say Rhode Island, As for birth year, only the 1860 and 1870 census are consistent in age. See census below.

Lydia lived in New York for a period of time. Her sons, Venner born about 1802 in New York, Caleb born 4 March, 1804 New York, Noel born 1808 New York, James C born 1804 in New York, John born New York 1810. Lydia died some time after 1870 census. Note: Walter Harrington Caleb and James C may be twins; Caleb's birth date was calculated from death record, possibly in error.
