For a long time John Sweet was set as Phillip and Lydia (Rice) Sweet's child in this profile. But since there's no solid evidence here for John Sweet being the child of Phillip Sweet, he was removed as their child. There are genealogy trees on the web with that relationship but no traceable reference.

Is John actually the husband of Phebe Slocum? The Charles Slocum book below says Phebe Slocum was a child of William Slocum. Her entry further says only "PHEBE, born in North Kingston, R. I .; married __ Sweet." There is a gravestone in Rehoboth, Massachusetts that says "In memory of/PHEBE/widow of John Sweet/who died March 22, 1840/aged 53 years." But Phebe seems to have lived 81 years. Their son Jonathan's marriage record lists Phebe as his mother and he also died in Rehoboth.
