Biography

Walter Barron Sweet was born on 10 April 1885 Grizzle Bluff, Humboldt County, California. He was the son of Samuel Sweet and Lydia Barron.

In the 1900 Census he was listed as a day laborer.[1] In the 1910 Census, when he was 25 years old, his employment is listed as a bookkeeper in the barrel factory.[2] He continued to work at the barrel factory through 1930. In 1940 he reported he was bookkeeper at a sawmill. [3]

On 8 May 1910 he married Alma Sophia Anderson in Arcata where they established their home. They had three children:

  1. Ethel Margaret (Sweet) Parkerson (b. 1911)
  2. Alma Ruth (Sweet) Moore (b. 1914)
  3. Walter Barron Sweet, Jr (b. 1926)

Walter Barron Sweet passed away 20 June 1952 in Arcata, Humboldt County, California. He is buried there in Sunset Memorial Park.
