Biography

Silas was born in 1745. He passed away in 1822.^[1]

On March 29, 1770, Silas Sweet, then of Dartmouth, married Ruth Fish, then also of Dartmouth.^[2]

Silas Sweet lived in New Bedford, Massachusetts employed as a blacksmith in the years 1770 to 1800. At that time he moved to Vermont where he purchased a farm where he lived for the rest of his life. He served in Captain Thomas Sawyer's company in the Vermont militia between June and August 1779. He was married and had four children.^[3]

In 1773, he was appointed as a commissioner to oversee the estate division of William Bennett.

He bought the Sands Wing House from Jacob Taber in 1787, and sold it to Aaron Wing in 1797.^[4]
