Frederick Roy was born on the family farm close to Imperial, Sask. He was the 3rd of nine children born to Herbert and Laura Sweet. When he was 7 years old, he got the Influenza, that killed his 5 year old sister, Frances. Miraculously, he pulled through. He enlisted in the Army during the second world war, and served in Italy and Germany. He worked in the logging industry, until a tree fell on his back he broke his neck. Again, it was miracle that he lived after laying in the bush for 2 days. He worked for the CPR in Nelson in the Car Barns until his retirement in 1978. He moved to Grand Forks and lived with his sister May for a few years. He met Sadie Rolandson on a Seniors Tour, and they were married in 1982. Sadie passed away in 1998, and Roy in 2010.
